-Nel Nichols-

Nel Nichols, a native of Wilmington, learned to play harmonica while living in New York City. Nel studied for several years with Robert Bonfiglio, internationally recognized as the leading classical chromatic soloist in his field. After a stint as a faculty member of Turtle Bay Music School, a Manhattan community music academy, Nel returned to Wilmington where she began performing locally and teaching blues and chromatic harmonica at the Wilmington Academy of Music. Nel is a member of the Lower Cape Fear Blues Society and has been a featured performer at many blues concerts and festivals throughout the area and now shares her knowledge of the instrument with her students at the Academy of Music.
